Bukuu Ethical Manifesto

Bukuu care passionately about the environment and it’s inhabitants, which is why we ask that all particpants of any events at Bukuu read our ethical manifesto regarding bio diversity loss and carbon capture. We promise to raise awareness regarding the environmental impact of hosting an event such as a festival themed wedding, as well as how to offset your carbon footprint by allowing Bukuu to host your party or wedding.

In reality, to keep your carbon footprint to a minimum, one has to just stand still, don’t do or produce anything!

Human beings are conscious and creative, and this in turn means that we use the earths natural resources. But why should we just keep taking and never give anything back? To mitigate this, Bukuu will plant enough trees to offset the carbon footprint of the event. This includes offsetting the travel, food consumption and energy needs of the event from start to finish.

For example:

Driving a car to and from the venue may produce around 60Kg of carbon per person.

To absorb 60kg of carbon a tree would need to grow for 3 years.

40 cars are used to bring 150 guests to the party (2280 kg of carbon)

Let’s say a tree will grow until it’s 35, then it will be harvested and in turn, the carbon will be captured to make furniture or perhaps a building – 875kg of carbon

Eating a plant based diet for the 3 days of the event will produce 9kg of carbon per person  (1350 kg Carbon)

The event will be powered by solar and battery where possible, if we are to use a generator this will be offset as-well

We’ll need to plant 5 trees  to offset.

Eating meat for 3 days would produce 22kg of carbon per person -150 people will produce 3300 kg

By eating meat, we would have to plant an extra 4 trees to capture the carbon!
